Improving installed base information utilization in a preventive maintenance field service process Mikael Öhman

  • As services account for a growing share of economic activity, continued growth is reliant on increasing service productivity. This work explores ways to improve productivity in preventive maintenance of machines, through making better use of available information. One of the main findings of this research enabled the challenging of underlying assumptions of how often maintenance should be performed. Essentially this meant that the case company was able to improve productivity without compromising the quality of service, not by working harder, but by working smarter.
