  • Steel is one of the most common materials in the world and its properties can be easily modified with alloying, heat treatments and mechanical working. The quenching and tempering of steel ensures a good combination of strength and ductility, which is required when steel is used in heavy chains. In my Master’s Thesis I studied specific quenched and tempered steel, the manufacturing process and various embrittlement phenomena.
