  • Trimaran icebreaker is a new, groundbreaking concept with greatly improved icebreaking efficiency when compared to traditional icebreakers. As a new concept, it presented some technical challenges, one of which was to determine a dimensioning method for the structure joining the three hulls together. I explored the loading scenarios that may happen during the lifetime of the ship, developed methods for calculating the loads in these scenarios and determined the dimensioning principles for the structure.
