  • Rome has a long and fascinating history in urbanisation. In my thesis I study the radical changes of a growing Rome during the 19th and 20th centuries. I have depicted the changes by painting views of the city today. The paintings are based on G.B. Piranesi’s views of 18th century Rome. Themes in the paintings include demolition and new construction, growing traffic and tourism, Tiber embankments and also historic preservation.
