  • Corporate entrepreneurship promotes innovation within companies by offering the means to combine the agility and innovativeness of startups with the resources and knowledge of big corporations.

But what do corporate entrepreneurs do ? What activities are they engaging in? And how can they be supported?

The thesis answers these questions for the case of Airbus. During a four-month lasting field research, five corporate entrepreneurs revealed success factors and obstacles during the development of their idea towards an innovation. The research used design probes, Lego Serious Play (as shown in the picture) and contextual in-depth interviews.

Activities from entrepreneurship have been tested whether they are relevant in a corporate context, and the theory of effectuation has been applied to the corporate context. On the basis of these insights, suggestions for the design of an entity to support corporate entrepreneurs are given.
