  • iPS (induced pluripotent stem cells) technology enables differentiated cells to be reprogrammed into stem cells in defined conditions and then to be differentiated into the desired cell type. iPS-technology allows usage of iPS-cells derived from a patient's own cells in clinical treatments, avoiding immunological rejection and the ethical issues associated with embryonic stem cells. iPS-cells can also be used to create disease models. I used them to study an inheritable heart disease.
