In my thesis I explore different ways of making unique printed fabric from a designers point of view. The thesis has been done in cooperation with Marimekko. The starting points of my work were Marimekko’s new 12-coloured rotation printing machine, a trip to my grandmothers place which was a very important place to me as a child, and finally the hut I built in the woods of my grandmothers house.
The productive part of my thesis consists of a collection of three interior fabric prints: “Maja”, “Varjossa” and “Maja varjossa”. The print “Maja” is also part of Marimekko’s fall 2012 interior fabric collection.
