People create the city with their own actions and presence. As the public city space becomes more closed and commercial, the very essence of urban living is lost: active, participating citizens turn into passive consumers.
In the context of urban research, the concept of "third place" is often used to refer to a meeting place within the city, between home and work. They are important elements of social life and diversity of the city.
In my thesis work, I discuss how the square in front of the Design Museum might transform from an empty space into a meaningful urban space.
